The International Symposium “Plasmas in the Laboratory and in the Universe: interactions, patterns, and turbulence” will be held at Società del Casino, on Lake Como, about 50 km North of Milano. It will start in the morning of Tuesday December 1st 2009 and end in the afternoon of Friday December 4th. This Symposium falls within a long tradition of Conferences and Schools held regularly either in Varenna or in Como (in particular, it follows the general goals of the International Symposium “Plasmas in the Laboratory and in the Universe: new insights and new challenges”, September 2003).
The conference program will address the following broad themes:
(1) Turbulence, magnetic fields, and star formation
(2) The disk-jet connection
(3) Mechanisms for angular momentum transport in accretion disks
(4) Complex and non-neutral plasmas
(5) Turbulence in laboratory and space plasmas
(6) Coherent and self-organized structures
(7) Plasma-wave interactions
(8) High energy plasmas
The structure of the Symposium is planned to be in the form of four full-day sessions (broadly corresponding to the eight areas indicated above) and a poster session. The selection of the contributed papers and the division into oral and poster presentations will be made on the basis of a one-page abstract submitted by the participants.
As for the Symposium held in 2003, the Proceedings will be published by the American Institute of Physics.
